The Jaimonstah!!

Well, I hadnt updated in a long time... Pretty much I had been busy,but I be Still Alive! I be celebratin` Talk like a Shipmate Tide, hencet` fancy talk.
I cammed t` a realization earlier, I need t` set up serious bios t` mecharacters I had created on t` wee last moons... Pretty much a basicinfo sail an' maybe a reference picture. I will get t` do that as soonas School doesnt moans an' scurvey doges like a dog cut in half

Aye, i also have t' update me art, Me will be workin' on someStoryboards and some Bgs that Me need t' color for Thursday andWednesday... Man, Its already Tuesday? Wow.
And in other news, me Colossus Costume be about 70% Complete... TharMight Be Enough Time For me Kankuro Costume, gar! *glee*

2D Thesis is a Class where we develop our Own Projects, We will dessign and produce a High-Quality animatic in 16 Weeks that will later will be animated and retaken in the Next Phase of this same class.

Today I developed several Ideas, Some of my favorites that I will retake some time later are :

Working Title Ideas
Swords - An Epic Battle between the Hero with a thousand faces and his very own Shadow, fighting from the beggining of times, until the end of the world for the ultimate prize : The Chance to revive Earth to their likes and Ideals. (2D)
Heroes - A new Reality TV Show where in a ghost city, a group of hitmen must prove themselves with character-specific weapons and take out the competition for Glory, Fame and The Killings. (2D + StopMo)
Kokoro Odoru - Morning is ruined when a Monster on a Hungry frenzy appears inside the Best Breakdancer's House just in time for Breakfast! (2D + StopMo)
Rex Tremendae - The School Bully might be Big, Mean and a Pain in the Ass to the other kids, He pushes and annoys the hell out of teachers and other people alike... Buts its all this to avoid them to finding his special secret : His Love for Gardening and Ornamental Flowers. (2D)
MutaJuice - A kid cleans his room all afternoon, and its exhausted once he is done. He finds a bottled Drink thats labeled in moonspeak and Before thinking it twice, he glups it down. After he is done with the drink, he transforms into a 60ft tall robot! (StopMo)

But My Finished Concept for my Thesis is this one :

Thesis Project (2D + StopMo - Undefined)
The Ten Pound Cat (Working Title) - A Mailman working for the Secret Postal Service (an organization thats in charge of sending the Mission notes, Data and supplies to the Secret Spies of the World) has to deliver a special parcel to the World's Best Spy. His delivery is a cardboard box that looks like a normal package... No High-Tech envelops or Mechanical, armored boxes... Just a Normal Brown Box. Little did he knew that this package will give him so much trouble as he tries to deliver it while dodging bullets, riding Mopeds, jumping into Airships and fighting thugs from the World's Biggest Mafia : The Monster Mobs. What is it Inside? What kind of Gadget would be so important that is delivered in such a casual package?

There We Go, I am off to do research and character sketches! =D

One of my most anticipated classes is Collective. Which is a joint group between 15-20 animation students to create a 2 minute long short film. This Year/Semester we are being divided in 2 units : 2D and 3D. Both with 12 members on board (this class was a total sell-out).

So, whats our project this time?

Animation Collective, 2D Squad.
Instructor - Sam Fleming.

Plot - A simple bank robery gone wrong with hilarious results.
Setting - 1940's Metropolis.

Eh? Excitment doesnt really strikes me here, but theres a little spark in me telling me that this project might turn out better than what other semesters and other groups have been doing so far. The curse of collective have always been the fact that it has been way too ambitious, and that leads to incomplete projects (Last Year was a Katrina Memorial that tried to mix 2D and 3D... Never Finished)

I am about to be cast in the project, my hopes go for Character Designer/Animator... But Knowing Sam, I dont know where I will end.

I am now going to draw some character designs, I think I can pull off a nice style for this.

UPDATE - I had been Casted! I will be working on this short film as the Color Coordinator (Color Tests and Color Maps) and BackGround Director... The Whole group is helping with Character designs, we do have a director tho.
As I said, I didnt knew where did Sam wanted me, So it was a good gamble. I just expect people to act and behave professionally.

What was the last game you played?

To be sincere, The last games I had been playing are Guitar Hero, Final Fantasy XI, X and Silent Hill 3.
I am eager to get Osu! Otakae! Ouendan! (NDS) and Jump Ultimate Stars (NDS) soon...
Guitar Hero II, Final Fantasy XII and The Nintendo Wii with Rayman Raving Rabbids and Twilight Princess are what I will be playing this Winter.

Today I am Reborn with New Ideas, New Feelings and a completly new direction in what could be considered to be a lifestyle. Today I am here to show my best and become the best. Not just another individual or live-in, peon or even serf from the animation community.

I am here to relinquish my efforts into something productive. I have the guts and the imagination to make my monsters real.

My name is Jaime Jair Cortes Ortiz, Animation Junior at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design (www.rmcad.edu) I am currently about to begin with two special projects: one that will carry on this semester, and other that will become my thesis.

Project one is a Communal Animation, two short films to be developed in 4 months. Separate teams and separate media for each, as well as two different teams...

Project two is my Thesis, a short film to be developed in a year by myself and only by myself as a team...

Still in the planning phases, I would like to use this Tool (Blog (http://versusoz.blogspot.com/) , Livejournal(http://randomflavor.livejournal.com), Vox(http://orangestar.vox.com)) to show to the world and anyone interested about my progress as an artist, an individual and as a Mastermind in my own ambitions.

I will also be using these tools to describe what my life is, as several changes have started to stir upon my life. A different breed.

I just like to view myself as the protagonist of my own epic myth. Recording the journey forces me to think about living actively (vs. passively.)
And sometimes I admit that its just a little bit excentric. Just a little.

Because I'm simply celebrating my journey. I'm not saying I'm any better than anybody else. On the contrary, I think EVERYONE has the capacity to be truly great. I strive for greatness and encourage everyone to live their epic myth.

During the Last month or so, I stopped giving people an Update of what had been going on with me. So far, the most exciting thing that has happened on my personal side of life has been a mark that I will bear for the rest of my life :

This Tattoo was made to conmemorate different events on my life, which are : Comming of age, Fearless Future, Artistic Rage, Brotherhood and Family ties, Responsability and finally Passion.

Other events have been summoned in these last 2 months, I became the Community Assistant of The New Student Housing and Member of the Student Goberment Association. I have also started several projects of my own,  including some breakdowns on what could be my Thesis Project: "To discover how ungainly your fallen foes must have felt, unable to target or even see their attacker - the realisation of how selfish your misguided quest truly was, how dreadful the repercussions really are".
